Four friends, Chris, 18, Kem, 19, Olivia, 18 and Amber, 18 drive to a campsite for the weekend. This is a treat for how well they have done in their exams at the end of the school year. At the beginning the atmosphere is peaceful as the characters start to set up their tent and settle down for the evening. During the evening they all hang out together but as the night approaches they split into their tents. Soon they fall asleep due to the long journey however, Amber stays awake as she cannot sleep. She starts to hear random creepy sounds and seeing shadows over the tent. Therefore, she quickly wakes up Kem. Kem thinking she is crazy tells her to go back to bed however she can’t and starts to explore around the tent. Little did she know that is one of the worst decisions she could have made. She starts to hear the trees and leaves rustling as if someone was there so she goes and checks it out. Suddenly, she feels someone stab her in the back and tries to escape. While she is running and screaming it wakes up the other campers. Kem feels guilty as he should off stayed up with her when she asked him too. Olivia and Chris are shocked and scared to find out that Amber left the tent and Kem let her. They are all in a chaotic situation as they are deciding what to do. Kem wants to go and find her but Chris and Olivia do not want to let him go alone. In the end they all run around the close perimeter of the woods and scream Amber’s name. No response. Amber at this point believes she is lost as she cannot find her way back to the main campsite. However, all of a sudden she starts to hear Kem’s voice in the distance and starts to reply back. Thankfully they find each other while Chris and Olivia are still together near the tent. Kem notices that Amber got stabbed and starts to question her, but she can’t remember anything as she is so frightened. They make their way back to the campsite.
Then Chris and Olivia, begin to hear strange sounds and wonder off to find Kem and Amber. Then in a series of hand held shots, the kids are running through the woods in search of Amber and running away from the weird noises. The spirit is stalking the children from a distance as the kids make their way back inside the tent. Then to make his presence known, the unknown spirit begins to shake the tent and walk around the tent. However, when someone walks out no one is there. Towards the end of the film, one by one the children are being killed off and beaten by their spirit. However, Olivia and Kem survive and figure out that it was their father who have been killing them.
In a series of different shots, the spirit begins to kill off the children one by one. We will create intrigue by using a variety of different shots e.g. we will use close up shots on body parts or murder weapons. In addition to this, we will use jump scares as this is a common convention amongst horror films. Furthermore, we will also be using various sound effects to make the trailer appear more realistic. We will also ensure to use a variety of props to make the film as realistic as possible. Examples of props that we will: a knife, fake blood and a tent. Finally, we will ensure that we include all the main characters in the story and give a little bit on information on each character. This will draw suspense to the characters.
Trailer: The friends and family are in the car driving off to the campsite. Then they are seen having a conversation whilst making the tent. In a mid-shot, the kids are seen to be having fun inside. Then a close up of a tool box showing different tools inside which inevitably will be used as murder weapons. Then in different shots, some of the kids are being killed off and beaten. You don’t find out who the killer is in the trailer. A series of silhouette shots will be used to show the killer.
